The Role

Start-Up Phase
Support the fundraise and site search process where possible. Develop the ethos, business plan and new curriculum in collaboration with the Chair and Advisory Board and once a site is identified, the extra-curricular offering.

Leadership
Provide leadership, vision, direction and management to the school for its continued development and enhancement in line with the values of the school. To ensure the school fulfils its aims by functioning properly in all aspects so that it contributes fully to each student’s development – intellectually, physically, morally, spiritually and personally.

Strategy
Develop the strategy for the school in collaboration with the Chair. Once approved by the Board, to implement the strategy.

Governance
Ensure that all policies and procedures are approved by the Board. Keep the Chair and the Board (especially the Chair) fully briefed on relevant matters.

Finances
Have a sound understanding of the financial/business management of the school, monitoring school budget expenditure. Develop and agree the annual budget with the Chair and Bursar/Finance Director for approval by the Board.

Inspection Preparation & Legal Compliance
Prepare for any inspections with due attention to any compliance and regulatory requirements.

Marketing & Fundraising
Manage fundraising, marketing and public relations for the School and wider community including feeder schools.

Curriculum Oversight & Performance
Take responsibility for the academic life of the school including the development and implementation of the new curriculum. Sustain and improve the school’s academic attainments at GCSE and A level.

Staff Recruitment
Recruit well-qualified, well-respected and enthusiastic teaching staff who believe in the School’s ethos and are committed to delivering academic success and pastoral wellbeing through high- quality teaching and care.

Staff Management
Provide thoughtful leadership to members of staff and empower them to use their skills and abilities for the good of the whole school community. Oversee the staff’s retention, appraisal, training and ongoing professional development.

Student Retention & Admissions
Lead the recruitment and admissions process of national
and international students. Retain existing students through setting out an improved school proposition in line with the
ethos and strategy of the school. Recruit new students through fostering or commencing relationships with feeder schools in the UK or internationally.

Pastoral & Boarding Oversight
Take responsibility for the pastoral life of the school. Through addressing their moral, social and spiritual development, foster resilience and character in pupils, developing soft skills which will enable them to cope with the challenges of modern day life and simultaneously ensure the safety and well being of each child.

Management of Boarders
Take ultimate responsibility for the welfare of all boarders. Provide a comfortable, close-knit and safe boarding environment for boarders, where pupils should feel they are in a happy home environment with high-quality care and oversight.

Fostering Potential in Pupils
Ensure that all pupils achieve their own potential and strive for the highest standards within a framework of achieving a balance in their lives. Support and actively encourage a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and out-of-school events for pupils and support staff in their delivery.

Relationships with Parents
Develop positive relationships with parents to achieve the support needed for students to excel; providing regular information on progress and discussion opportunities in order to obtain their support and involvement.
